Q. How long does it take to get set-up?
A. Once we receive your application it is about two weeks.
Q. What if my business is new and I do not know what my projected annual sales or average sale will be?
A. As merchants ourselves we have all been down this road of trying to estimate sales info for a business that is not open and in some cases a brand new venture. However, every processor will require you to provide your best estimate. A couple of strategic ideas to consider: If you estimate sales volume too high then the credit dept will be required to make sure you are credit worthy for the sales numbers provided. However, if you estimate too low you can always re-contact your Account Executive (AE) and inform them that sales are proceeding better then expected and to notify the credit dept. A word of caution, you MUST contact your AE if you have miscalculated by more then 30% to avoid having your account placed on hold.
Q. Do I need access to a gateway and a merchant account?
A. Yes, web-hosting companies e.g. Yahoo already bundle access to a gateway in their Yahoo store. However, many other stores do not. AuthorizeNet is the gateway provider of choice for many web-hosting companies. An excellent analogy is to think of the gateway as an electronic freeway and your merchant processing account as the auto.
